Team India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah expressed his frustration during the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah admitted that the conditions at the Gabba in Brisbane did not offer any swing and it turned out to be a disappointing day for the Indian fans.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first after winning the toss in the third Test match against Australia on Saturday, December 14. However, Rohit’s decision proved unhelpful for the visiting team as the pacers failed to generate the expected swing in the overcast conditions in the first session.
You don’t want to move, you do somewhere – Jasprit Bumrah
During the fourth over, the Indian players raised concerns about the ball and asked the umpire to inspect it. The ball went past the counter and back to Mohamed Siraj. In the next over, Jasprit Bumrah tried to find swing and expressed his frustration as the ball didn’t swing much.
“Nahi ho raha swing, kahin bhi kar (There is no swing wherever you bowl),” Bumrah was heard over the stump microphone as he headed towards the bowling spot.

Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney remain unbeaten before the rain interruption
Australian champions Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney looked in control in the first session. They scored 28 runs for the loss without a wicket in 13.2 overs bowled in the morning session. Persistent rain and heavy downpours led to an early lunch. It is possible that the second session of the day will be washed out.
In the first session, Nathan McSweeney scored 4 runs while Usman Khawaja added 19 off 47 balls. Jasprit Bumrah bowled six overs, including three maidens, conceding only eight runs. Akash Deep, who replaced Harshit Rana, bowled 3.2 overs and conceded just two runs before rain interrupted play.
My only concern would be the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah – Sunil Joshi
Former India spinner Sunil Joshi said paceman Prasidh Krishna could provide support to Bumrah in the remainder of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In an interview with TOI, Joshi expressed concern over Bumrah’s fitness and stressed the importance of managing his workload.
“Moving forward, my only concern would be the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah because we saw him getting pinched in the Adelaide Test. Given this scenario, it is important how well the Indian think tank will use Jasprit Bumrah for the remaining test matches.India can always look at Prasidh Krishna who is a very good fast bowler and also tall, and he played the Duleep Trophy matches with full fitness, so that’s an option,” Joshi said.
Prasidh Krishna has played only two Tests for India, both during their recent tour of South Africa. He also impressed in the Australia A matches before the Test series. He took 10 wickets at an average of 17.30. The ongoing five-match Test series between India and Australia is tied 1-1.
