Indian National Cricket Team’s young batsman Sai Sudharsan has undergone a successful surgery in London for sports hernia.
Sudharsan gave the update to fans through his official social media channels on Tuesday, December 10.
He will be back stronger in no time – Sai Sudharsan
The 23-year-old Tamil Nadu all-rounder was last seen in action on November 23 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura. He scored 9 runs in the match before heading to the BCCI National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, Sudharsan, in a post shared on his official Instagram, said that he wants to come back stronger than ever very soon and thanked the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as the Gujarat Titans ( GT) franchise for their support. He stated:
“I will be back stronger in no time. A big thank you to the medical team and BCCI for their efforts and support. Thank you Titans family for your love and support. @gujarat_titans @mightywillow -Legend.”
It is worth noting that Sudarshan was in Australia for the red ball matches before his last appearance in competitive cricket in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He represented India A in the matches against Australia A and scored 21 and 103 in the first match before failing in the second game as he scored 0 and 3.
Sudharsan was expected to be asked to remain in Australia with the Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after Rohit Sharma took the decision to skip the first match in Perth and Shubman Gill suffered a thumb injury. However, this did not happen as the Indian team management preferred Devdutt Padikkal over him.
Sai Sudharsan ruled out of Vijay Hazare Trophy
After the surgery, Sai Sudharsan is likely to be out of action for a few months. He is likely to miss the entire Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament, which will be held from December 21 to January 18.
Sudharsan is one of the most talented young batsmen on the Indian circuit and will surely be missed by his Vijay Hazare Trophy squad. Sai Sudharsan has already made his debut for the Indian National Cricket Team and may also become a full member of the team in the near future.
So far he has played 3 ODIs and 1 T20I for India. In 3 ODIs, he scored 127 runs at an average of 63.50 while not getting a chance to bat in T20Is.
Sudharsan was also retained by Gujarat Titans (GT) ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 grand auction for INR 8.50 crore along with Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan.

Talking about the Indian National Cricket Team, they are currently involved in the 5-match Border-Gavaskar series against the Australian National Cricket Team.
The hosts started the series with a dominant 295-run win in Perth under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, but suffered a disappointing 10-wicket defeat in the second Test in Adelaide.
With the series currently tied 1-1, the two teams will lock horns in the third Test match at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14.
