Alexis McAllister says it would be “perfect” if Mohamed Salah ended his career at Liverpool.
Salah is out of contract – along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – at the end of the season and expressed his disappointment that new terms have not already been settled in a few rare media appearances.
Reports this morning suggest Liverpool have made their first bid for the Egyptian star and McAllister hopes the matter can be settled quickly so Salah can focus on firing Liverpool to domestic and European silverware.
He told Spanish newspaper AS: “I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful.
“He seems happy here. he is a club legend. It would be ideal if he could end his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it also depends on the club to do their analysis or make a decision.
“He inspires us a lot, on and off the field. He is an example of hard work and dedication, always looking to give his best. He is a very hardworking man who gives everything to play football.
“On the pitch you can see it: Salah has that personality of always trying for more, and when you have him around, you know he’s a player who’s going to give you an assist or score. I hope he continues like this, because he is one of the most important players for our team.”

Mac Allister was impressed by Slot’s impact
Salah has continued to thrive under new boss Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.
And Argentina midfielder McAllister has been impressed with the way the Dutchman has quietly implemented his ideas.
“We were coming from a long process with Jurgen Klopp, where the basic ideas were already established,” he added. “Basically, Arne Slot did not come to change everything, but to add his methodology to what we were already working on.
“The biggest difference, or what we added, was patience when we have the ball. This is the biggest difference right now. Now, we have more of the ball, which allows us to create more scoring opportunities.
“The team is very comfortable and doing very well, as shown against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League. That makes you more confident and makes us see that we can compete with any team.”
