Australia captain Pat Cummins has spoken about the altercation between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj during the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test. Pat Cummins stated that Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj could handle the situation as they wanted after the recent match.
Head and Siraj were involved in a heated argument after Siraj dismissed Head, who had scored a magnificent century, on Day 2 of the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval. In the post-match press conference, Head expressed his dismay at Siraj’s aggressive dismissal after the dismissal.
The Indian pacer, on the other hand, accused Head of lying ahead of the third day’s play. Siraj said he was provoked and had to react to the abuse. However, both players ended the sledding with a hearty hug after the match. The captains of both teams were later asked about their views on the incident.
We’ve talked about this enough – Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins was repeatedly asked about the altercation between Head and Siraj during the post-match press conference. When an Indian journalist reported Siraj’s accusation that Head had “lied” about the incident, Cummins stated: “I think we’ve talked about it enough”, before walking away.
They can do what they want – Pat Cummins
Rohit Sharma supported Siraj’s aggressive approach as long as he didn’t overstep the boundaries. Instead, Pat Cummins stressed that he was only concerned with the behavior of his team. Cummins said the players could do whatever they wanted, but he was happy with his team’s behaviour.
“To be honest, they can do whatever they want. I’m more worried about our boys and as always, I thought our boys’ behavior was excellent this week, as it seems to be every week. So I’m pleased with them. I was out there. It’s a long series, it’s full of people every day, so I think the refs came in pretty quick,” Cummins said during the postgame press conference (via Fox Sports).
Brisbane will host the third Test between India and Australia from December 14
Australia leveled the series 1-1 with a dominant 10-wicket win at the Adelaide Oval. Travis Head was named Man of the Match for his brilliant 140 runs off 141 balls which helped Australia take control of the game. Australia chased down the target of 19 runs without losing a wicket in the pink ball Test match.
Siraj fell short of expectations in the Adelaide Test compared to the series opener in Perth. However, he took four wickets in Australia’s first innings, dismissing Travis Head, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland.
The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series will take place at The Gabba in Brisbane, starting on December 14. It will be a crucial match for both sides to take the lead in the five-match series.
