Carragher rips into ‘disgraceful’ Chelsea defender Cucurella after costly slips against Tottenham

Jamie Carragher was unimpressed by Marc Cucurella, branding the Spain full-back “disgraceful” after his two slips gave Tottenham a 2-0 lead over Chelsea this afternoon.

Cucurella apparently had the wrong studs in his boots after twice losing his footing on the turf and going to the ground. The first time we saw him lose possession to Brennan Johnson, who crossed for Dominic Solanke to score.

Second slip saw the ball eventually fall to Dejan Kulusevski and he struck into the bottom right corner.

After the second goal, Cucurella ran to the touchline to get some boots with a longer stud, to which ex-Liverpool defender Carragher said: “Cucurella is coming to the bench, don’t blame anyone else – it’s your fault son! Who does kitman blame? Ultimate student material. Uncomfortable.

“It’s slipping again. Look at him shrugging. Didn’t he warm up?’

Jadon Sancho made it one for Chelsea in a thrilling opening 45 minutes that also saw Cristian Romero limp off early for a Tottenham side that was able to welcome Mickey van de Ven back from injury.
