Politicians and industry leaders gathered Saturday at the 2024 Reagan National Defense Forum to address global threats and U.S. national defense. a time of transition.

While the US must address numerous international threats, a key stakeholder warned that America is facing a “legitimacy crisis.” CEO of Palantir, Dr. Alex Karp, noted that the new Trump administration has a “big mandate” to correct this.

“What we have in this country is a crisis of legitimacy,” said Dr. Karp during a panel discussion Reagan National Defense Forum moderated by CNN’s Abby Phillip.

“There’s no one in this country, no expert, where they’ll say something and the American people will say, ‘I 100% believe that’s true.'”

During the Reagan National Defense Forum, available for streaming on Fox Nation, Dr. Karp argued that the country has about six months to “heal” the crisis.

“The only thing that can cure a crisis of legitimacy is measurement, and that is where we are in this country, and anything else is a truism,” the CEO said. “Because, honestly, and I say this with great respect to experts: No one is listening. Everyone thinks you have an agenda… My favorite example of this is analysts on Wall Street. The whole methodology they have is just a way to tell them if they like you.”

Dr. Karp pointed to newly-elected President Donald Trump’s new advisory body as a “critical” element to restore legitimacy and enable the country to better tackle foreign threats. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.

‘That’s why I think the DOGE is…crucial… We need to measure what it’s being spent on. What is the yield? Is the input smaller than the output? And then you have to explain: what is that output?”

By addressing the country’s “legitimacy crisis,” he said the new Trump administration can restore America’s standing on the world stage.

“We need to take action and those people need to be afraid,” noted Dr. Karp op, referring to the US’s foreign adversaries.

“We can’t have equality. Our opponents have no moral objection if it is equal. They will take advantage of our kindness, our kindness, our desire to be home in Nebraska or New Hampshire or wherever we live in our peaceful environment. And she I have to wake up scared and go to bed scared.”

Dr. Karp, whose company builds the software that underpins much of the military’s technological prowess, emphasized that his “version” of service is intended to make American soldiers “happier” and the country’s enemies “scared.” to make.

“My version of service is that the soldiers will be happier, the enemies will be scared, and Americans will get back to enjoying the fact that we’re the only ones with a real tech scene in this country, and we’re going to win everything.”
