“It went really well,” Chock, 60, exclusively said Us Weekly on Friday, December 6, at iHeartRadio 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball.
Joan, 61, and Chock spent Thanksgiving with their respective children from past relationships. They got engaged during the first season of The Golden Bacheloraired earlier this fall.
“I felt a little nervous that we, all of a sudden, threw everyone together. Holiday times are stressful anyway,” recalls Joan us on Friday. “And then to introduce ‘Here’s your new family, here’s your new step-siblings, and here’s me in his kids’ lives and Chock in my kids’ lives’ can be awkward.”
She added: “But from the first night everything was going great. We went out to dinner. Our kids abandoned us and were like, “Yeah, we’ll go to the bars after that,” and we went home and left our kids outside. We were very lucky. Our children got along very well.”
Now that Golden Bachelor is aired, Joan and Chuck are enjoying themselves learning new things about each other now that their romance is out in the open.
“Joan is just a good person. She has a lot of friends, she cares about them and pays attention to them,” Chock gushed. “She’s a great grandma, just a great all-rounder and we have a lot of fun together. She’s a bit more adventurous than I am, so we make a good team. She drives like an F1 race car driver!”

Joan, for her part, admires how Chock balances fatherhood with his professional life.
“I admire that he was the main parent in his children’s lives from a very, very young age, and also that he had a very successful business, so it’s a lot of work,” she said. “He is a good father and a good breadwinner.”
Chok replied, “It was great. We are truly blessed.”
Joan and Chuck currently split their time between their hometowns in Maryland and Kansas. They also have plans to move to New York together — in addition to correcting his fellow Bachelor Nation alumni.
“Well, we’ve been working on finding matches,” Joan said us. “We have a bunch of guys (from my season) and we’re working on finding them (with the women from The Golden Bachelor). Surprisingly, Chuck is a really good matchmaker. I started it and now it is working.
She added: “We were all together last night calling boys and talking to girls. We kicked things off.”
Joan and Chock also advocate a “golden” version of the Bachelor in Paradise.
“I think we could be bartenders or counselors or something,” she joked. “I have to say, though, a lot of the guys that came out of my season were already partnered with girls. I think they have this new confidence and are super popular. I’m excited for them, but I’m a little worried that we’re going to miss guys.”
The iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour special airs on ABC on Wednesday, December 18 at 8:00 PM ET and airs the following day on Hulu.
