Table-toppers Liverpool make the short trip to Stanley Park on Saturday as they visit Everton at Goodison Park for the final time in the Premier League.
With the Toffees moving to a new ground for the 2025/26 season, this will be the last time they host Liverpool at Goodison in the Premier League – and possibly ever. The venue has witnessed Merseyside derbies since 1892 and Everton will be looking to end that particular chapter on a high this Saturday.
Everton won their home clash with Liverpool last season and have lost just once in their last seven against their neighbors at Goodison. After thrashing Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at home on Wednesday, the Toffees will be hard pressed to get going this weekend.
Liverpool suffered a tougher test in midweek as they traveled to St James’ Park. Exciting 3-3 draw with Newcastle saw their lead at the summit of the Premier League table cut to seven points and another slip on Saturday is likely to be exploited by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Arne Slot’s side have yet to lose just once this season and his first Merseyside derby is one that could have huge consequences. He will quickly get a taste of the ferocity of this match on Saturday afternoon.
Behold 90 minutes guide to the merseyside derby.

EvertonHis big win in midweek will serve as a huge confidence boost ahead of Liverpool’s visit and the Toffees seemingly came through the match unscathed on the injury front. Sean Dyche has a strong squad for Saturday but still has a few fitness concerns.
In midfield, James Garner and Tim Irogbunam are missing for Everton, not expected to return until late December. Up top, Youssef Chermiti remains sidelined with a long-term leg injury suffered in pre-season.
Dyche is unlikely to name a line-up drastically different to the one that hammered the Old Gold four times on Wednesday night, with a 4-4-1-1 formation likely to be used to frustrate the division-leading side.
Everton predicted line-up against Liverpool (4-4-1-1): Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Ndiaye, Gueye, Mangala, McNeil? Doucoure? Calvert-Lewin.
The slot man could well make changes from the midweek draw at Tyneside, especially in defence. Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to the starting line-up after scoring two assists off the bench against Newcastle, while Jarrell Quancha and Joe Gomez – who were both unconvincing on Wednesday – will battle for a centre-back spot in his place injured Ibrahima. Konate.
Alisson is closing in on a return and Caoimhin Kelleher’s disappointing display on Wednesday shows he is still some way off his team-mate’s level despite being an excellent substitute. However, the Brazilian, like Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, remains likely to miss the Merseyside derby, while Connor Bradley is still absent at right-back.
Alexis Mac Allister collected his fifth yellow card of the season against Newcastle and will miss the Everton clash through suspension. Curtis Jones could drop into a deeper role to cover, or Slot could turn to Wataru Endo or Tyler Morton.
In the forward line, Diogo Jota is still missing after picking up a rib injury against Chelsea in October. Federico Chiesa has returned to team training and could be part of the matchday squad on Saturday.
Liverpool predicted line-up against Everton (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson? Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.
Despite Everton currently sitting 15th in the table, Liverpool they know better than anyone the dangers of visiting Goodison. They have tasted victory in just two of their last 12 trips to Stanley Park, with nine of those ending in draws.
With their egos slightly bruised from Wednesday’s trip to St James’ Park and some key contributors missing in defense and midfield, Liverpool could find life difficult against the tenacious and combative Toffees.
Liverpool will be clear favorites for this one, but you can never bet against a draw in a Merseyside derby at Goodison. It would be a fitting result on the stadium’s farewell tour.
