Amorim close to knowing preferred Manchester United’s line-up

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says he is close to finding out his preferred starting line-up at the club.

The Red Devils have had a mixed start under the former Sporting boss, losing to Arsenal and drawing with Ipswich but beating Everton and Bodo/Glimt.

Amorim has rotated his squad heavily during games, leaving questions about which personnel he prefers to start.

But the Portuguese tactician now says he has an idea.

Speaking at the press conference, he said: “You have an idea, but we have the problem of players coming back without training, then we have to manage the load.

“You have to understand what kind of players you have.

“For example Bruno Fernandes, he was a bit tired at the end against Arsenal, but you know he will recover very well.

“If you think about Manuel Ugarte, I’ve known him for so long and I know he needs a bit more time.

“We’re in that process of getting to know the players and managing that. We’re getting close to an idea, yes.”

Amorim admitted that Manchester United will not get immediate results, but is looking for maximum effort from his players.

He added: “This is a key point for us.

“We also need to understand our supporters. in just two weeks and four games, they just want to see effort.

“Then they want to see us win games. After a while of hard work and winning games they will want to see a dominant team.

“These are the phases we must follow. That’s the easy one, effort. Full sprint back, full sprint forward. Our focus is very much on that.”

United face Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they look to continue their climb up the Premier League table.
