It was a stressful, nausea-inducing night for Detroit Lions fans — and one of their players, too.
Following the Lions’ dramatic 34-31 win over the Green Bay Packers in Detroit on Thursday, Dec. 5, head coach Dan Campbell gave a rousing postgame speech in the Ford Field locker room as an offensive lineman Dan Skipper was hunched over in the corner.
“Offense, that’s a way to step up, man,” Campbell, 48, said. “This is a way to strengthen ourselves. There you go, Skip. Keep throwing up! Whatever you do there.
video recording shared from the social networks of the Lions the team turned to show Skipper, 30, down on one knee in obvious distress. Campbell’s line drew a hearty laugh from his teammates, who used a 35-yard field goal from Jake Bates as time expired to beat Green Bay for their 11th straight win.
Skipper started the game on the left in place of the Lions Taylor Deckerwho missed his second straight game with a knee injury.
“You talk about pressure? We live under pressure,” Campbell continued. “That’s where we bloody thrive. He did it again. You did it again. It doesn’t matter who plays for us, it doesn’t matter what happens. You always find a way to win. That’s what devil champions do.”

The Lions’ win clinched their playoff spot and maintained their one-game lead over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.
“It’s not a fluke, man,” Campbell added. “It doesn’t just happen. It’s a work in progress, man. This is under construction. We should all be here together, man. We are destined for this. Just stay the course.”

“We don’t have to talk about how healthy we are, we don’t have to talk about how durable we are,” Campbell boasted. “We’ll get through it, man. We survived it.”
He ended his inspired speech by saying, “You are fucking warriors! You are fucking warriors! Good win! Smash it!”
Lions quarterback Jared Goff then gathered the team in the middle of the locker room, where he gave his own stirring assessment of the game.
“It doesn’t just happen, guys,” said Goff, 30. “We are different. I’ll say it again. This band is different.”
