Taylor Swift’s friend, NFL star Travis Kelce, is positioned to be the quarterback’s best asset, not competition.
But that all changed over the weekend, when the Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen announced his engagement to pop star and actress Hailee Steinfeld, making them the newest dynamic duo in the world of football.
Kelce harmlessly congratulated the couple in the comments section of their joint Instagram post, prompting users to speculate when he would drop to the knee for Swift.
Kelce’s “Congratulations!!!” The comment, which generated more than 11,000 likes, also generated nearly 150 comments, many of which suggested Kelce would be the “next” one to propose.

“Your move bro,” one user wrote. “You’re next,” several people said. “Okay, are you next? The world is looking forward to it…” someone asked. “The couple in this photo is the Temu version of you and your future wife @taylorswift,” another joked.

Others marveled at the insanity of the comments section, including one staunch defender who wrote: “He should be able to congratulate his friend without people being crazy,” and later: “Very weird and invasive, stop bothering him, he congratulated just his friend.”
A representative for Kelce did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Swift, who is friends with Steinfeld, also liked the post.

Swift made her relationship with Kelce public in September 2023, after the “Bad Blood” singer attended one of his games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she told TIME of their relationship timeline. “I think some people think they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to rush into a first date.”
Swift was seen on camera more than a dozen times during that game, and is still regularly seen at all subsequent events she attended.
Near the end of her Eras Tour, Swift was joined by her father, Scott, and Kelce’s mother, Donna, to watch the Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.

Ever since the couple started dating, there have been rumors that the relationship was manufactured for publicity purposes. Although Mark Donovan, chairman of the Kansas City Chefs, refuted that story in late November.

“I’d like to say it was a marketing strategy, but it’s an authentic relationship, and we’re glad we have it, and it’s been nothing but good for us,” he said. CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’. “I think the best thing I can say about the entire relationship… and the impact it has had on us is that Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom. She is an authentic fan. And that’s important to our fans and our fan base, and it’s important to us, and we’ve tried to respect that.”
