Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said Thursday that she is open to the idea of meeting Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, likening the reason for doing so to a trip to see Jan. 6 suspects in jail.
Republicans in Congress plan to work closely with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, the pair co-leading President-elect Donald Trump’s newly formed austerity project, the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The DOGE duo made their rounds with Republican lawmakers in Washington, DC on Thursday, spending the morning with members of the Senate DOGE Caucus before heading to a meeting with House GOP leaders and House DOGE Caucus representatives.

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace noted on her show that Musk and Ramaswamy have expressed interest in meeting with Democrats the next time they visit, and asked Crockett if she would take them up on their offer.
“Oh, I would meet,” Crockett replied. “Now, I don’t know if they want to meet me. I would absolutely do that. You know, listen, if they get a little DOGE commission, or whatever they call it, I definitely want to understand it. tell me as much about it as possible so that I can report back.”
“It’s kind of like that time we had to visit the January 6ers in jail, I had to show up to make sure the truth would be reported,” she added.
“So absolutely come to me, guys, and let’s talk so I can make sure the truth is in the atmosphere,” she said.

Crockett was one of two Democrats who joined a dozen Republican members of the House Oversight Committee on a prison tour in Washington, D.C., in March 2023, where some Suspects were detained on January 6.
“Someone has to be here to tell the truth,” Crockett said of the visit at the time. “If we weren’t here, there would be no checking on anything they (Republicans) said.”
