UnitedHealth Group said Thursday it is mourning the loss of CEO Brian Thompson after a lone gunman shot him in broad daylight outside the Hilton. Midtown Manhattan earlier this week.
The company said Thompson was “a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him.”
On Thursday, the healthcare company released their second statement since the incident to express their gratitude for the kind words and sympathy from Americans across the country.

“While our hearts are broken, we have been touched by the outpouring of kindness and support in the hours since this horrific crime occurred,” the statement said.
“So many patients, consumers, healthcare professionals, associations, government officials and other caring people have taken the time to reach out. We are grateful even as we grieve,” they further said.
The New York Police Department has been looking for the killer since early Wednesday morning.

The suspect wanted to go for the brutal murder He is believed to have used a fake New Jersey ID to check into a New York City hostel before the brutal execution-style, police sources told Fox News.
Sources say the suspect is the false identity card and paid in cash.
UHG says the incident will not impact the way the business operates and that their priorities are with the family in times of need.

“Our priorities are first and foremost supporting Brian’s family; ensuring the safety of our employees; and working with law enforcement authorities to bring the perpetrator to justice,” they said. “We, at UnitedHealth Group, will continue to be there for those who depend on us for their healthcare.”
The company further asked the public to give the families space to grieve.
“We ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy as they mourn the loss of their husband, father, brother and friend,” the company said.
