Actress dies after consuming amphibian poison during spiritual cleansing retreat


A Mexican actress is dead after voluntarily participating in a spiritual cleansing ritual in which she allegedly consumed poisonous Amazonian frog poison.

Marcela Alcázar Rodríguez, 33, ingested some of the poison as part of a spiritual cleansing that some South American natives have used for toxic cleansing, according to local reports.

Rodríguez began vomiting and developed severe diarrhea.

She initially refused help because she felt ill, but eventually gave in when her friend came to visit and her condition worsened, witnesses said.

Mexican production company Mapache Films confirmed the deathin which she said she was a “beloved colleague and friend.”

“It is with deep regret that we mourn the death of our beloved colleague and friend, Marcela Alcázar Rodríguez,” the production company wrote in a message. post on social media.

Kambo is one South American healing ritual that incorporates a frog’s toxic secretions, according to Healthline.

“The frog secretes the substance as a defense mechanism to kill or subdue animals that try to eat it. Some people, on the other hand, apply the substance to their bodies for its purported health benefits,” the paper said.

Police are investigating the involvement of a shaman in the incident.
