Long before her Dancing with the stars mandate, Lindsay Arnold did an episodic blink and you missed it in High school musical franchise.

“It was the highlight of my childhood,” Arnold, 30, said during a recent episode of “Lightweights” podcast. “I was maybe 14 and I had to be paid. I think they literally paid me $50 for like three full days, but it was the coolest thing ever.”

Arnold was additional background c High School Musical 2which aired on the Disney Channel in 2007. She later made another brief appearance as a dancer in 2008. High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Both movies, as well as the OG 2006 DCOM, were shot in Arnold’s native Utah.

“I thought, ‘They’re paying me to dance, what?’ I would do this for free. Then to be able to tell my friends that I will be participating High school musical it was pretty cool,” Arnold recalled. “I was in the second movie. So the first movie was already out and it had everything.’

“That was a really, really crazy cool moment as a young dancer,” Arnold gushed.

Arnold grew up training and competing in ballroom dancing in Utah. By 18, she tried out for So you think you can dance season 8 and finished in the Top 8. Soon after, Arnold was hired as a professional DWTS.

Dancing with the stars called and they said, ‘We want you on this season,’ so I put (college) on hold again,” Arnold recalled during a 2022 episode. the Trade Secrets podcast.. “Then I think after this first season of Dancing with the starsI realized, like, ‘Oh, maybe I shouldn’t go to college right now.’ … It just fell into place.”

Her first season aired in March 2013 when she partnered the boxer Victor Ortiz during season 16. The following year, she was “demoted” to the troupe.

“I just wasn’t ready,” she added at the time. “Honestly, it was probably one of the hardest parts of my career, even though it’s such an amazing job; this is amazing work. … First I had to figure out who I was. And what’s interesting is when I tell you that it’s a different kind of work, but sometimes you put in more hours for the troupe than as a professional. This is a total wage cut.

Arnold continued victory DWTS season 25 with an actor Jordan Fisher. She has since left the show, focusing on raising her two young daughters with her husband Sam Cusick in Utah.
