Three times Olympic gold medalist Dressage star Charlotte Dujardin has been suspended for a year and fined for “excessively” hitting a horse.
The video went viral just days before it started 2024 Olympic Games in Pariswhere Dujardin repeatedly hit a horse around its legs.
The British athlete withdrew from the Games because of the video and was accused of ‘conduct contrary to the principles of horse welfare’.

The FEI, equestrian’s world governing body, issued the international ban on Thursday and also fined Dujardin 10,000 Swiss francs.
The suspension will run back to the start of her provisional suspension, making her eligible to compete again in July 2025.
“I fully respect the verdict handed down today by the Equestrian Federation (FEI),” Dujardin said. according to BBC.com.
“As the federation has acknowledged, my actions in the video do not reflect who I am, and I can only apologize once again. I understand the responsibility that comes with my position in the sport, and I will forever strive to to do better.”

When the video surfaced, Dujardin said it was “from four years ago… showing that I made an error in judgment during a coaching session.”
“It is understandable that the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) is conducting an investigation and I have taken the decision to withdraw from all competitions – including the Paris Olympic Games – while this process takes place,” she said in a statement at the time .
Dujardin won two of her three gold medals in 2012, winning both the team and individual dressage events. She would go on to win gold in the individual event in 2016 in Rio, as well as a silver medal in the team event.
