The coveted edition celebrates Swift’s nearly two years Eras Tourwhich started in March 2023. and ends on Sunday, December 8, in Vancouver. The book contains hundreds of never-before-seen photographs from Eras Tour and behind-the-scenes images of costumes, instruments, and more.
“I’ll never forget the call when I explained my idea for the concept of The Tour of the Ages to my team,” Swift, 34, recalled in the prologue to the issue. “At the time I was working on midnight album, and if we were to do what I’ve always done, I’d be in charge of the planning The midnight tour. But there’s nothing I hate more than doing what I’ve always done.”
In the book, Swift recalls telling her team that she wanted to “fully commit” to each era and past album, “musically, stylistically and aesthetically,” noting that if done right, the show should “celebrate and honor both new fans and fans who have been here since day one.”
Referring to the three albums she has yet to tour — the 2020s folklore and Forever and 2022 midnight — as well as the re-recording process of her first six albums as inspiration, Swift says she fell “back in love” with her previous work, which made her want to “honour” what fans have done for her and for Taylor’s version albums. “So the new albums and my re-recordings put me in a dilemma. HOW on earth are we going to play all this music live?”
“My goal was for every fan to leave this show knowing that I gave them absolutely everything I had,” she wrote. “I promised myself to be physically and mentally healthier than ever before. To be more disciplined and committed to my health, fitness and endurance. Fortunately, I am surrounded by my incredible cast, band, singers and dancers who match my commitment to the sheer scale and challenges of this show.”
