The recently restructuring of the FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to take place in the United States this summer from June 15 to July 13.
There have been significant changes to the tournament, which was previously made annually with only seven teams, but will now include 32 teams and will take place every four years.
The tournament will include a club of all six football talks: Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF), North and Central America (CONCACAF), South America (CONMEBOL), Oceania (OFC) and Europe (UEFA).
The European Associations have been allocated 12 points, the highest among the Confederations. The offer was determined by Club’s performances in the Champions League in the last four seasons, which means that past winners such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid have secured their positions.
Additional European teams caused through the UEFA ranking system, although one limit of two clubs per country meant that Liverpool lost despite their strong appearance in the 2022 Champions League.
Asia, Africa and the Federal Federations of North and Central America have four sockets, while South America has six and Oceania has one.
How is the Fifa Club World Cup structured?
The structure of the renovated World Cup Club is mirrored by the FIFA international tournament.
The 32 groups are divided into eight groups of four, with each group playing others in the form of round Robin.
The first two of each group go to the knockout stages. However, unlike the World Cup, this tournament will not include a third play-off. The final is set for July 13, 2025.

Why do Lionel Messi and Inter Miami play in the FIFA Club World Cup?
A point in the tournament is intended for a reception club and FIFA is awarded this place to Inter Miami based on the 2024 MLS Shield victory, given to the team with the best record of normal period.
Although Inter Miami was eliminated in the MLS playoffs and are not the champions of the league, their invitation has caused a discussion, with some interpreting it as FIFA’s attempt to secure Lionel Messi’s participation in a tournament that has not yet created extensive enthusiasm.

The tournament will take place in 12 stages in the United States, a year before the nation co-fetched the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico. The matches will be played:

Why is the FIFA Club challenged?
FIFA is currently facing legal actions by trade unions and player championships due to programming concerns.
Critics argue that the football diary becomes “overwhelmed”, increasing the risks of players’ safety and well -being.
Some players, such as Liverpool’s Alisson and Manchester City’s Rodri, have been openly concerned about the growing number of matches. The timetable of the tournament is another issue, as there are only five weeks between the Club World Cup final and the start of the Premier League 2025-26 season on August 16th.
The Club World Cup is also partially overlapped with the Euro Women’s Euro 2025, which lasts July 2-27.
