Transatleet abuse accusations does not prevent CBC CCAA title winning

A feud against a transgender competitor who resulted in forfeit and sanctions Het Columbia Bible College (CBC) does not have to go all the way this year.

CBC won the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball National Championship on Saturday evening and defeated St. Mary’s University 77-70 to win the title for the first time in program history.

For CBC, Elissa Vreugdenhil Ccaa Championship Tournament MVP won, which means 19 points with 12 rebounds in victory. Grace Park scored 20 points with six rebounds and four assists to claim the player of the game, while Madeline Beerwald scored 20 points with eight rebounds.

The victory is not only the first national championship in the CBC history, but also marked a dramatic change from just two years ago, because the program suffered a 54 game Losing Streak from 2018 to 2023. The program did not even have won a play-off game of the conference prior to this season.

But the team has also achieved all of this under the shadow of allegations with regard to the treatment of a transatlet. Head coach Taylor Claggett was suspended and the team lost the right to organize the conference tournament after accusations of abuse against a transatleet at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in October.

De Veke started during a match of 25 October between the two teams, which won VIU 69-56 after trans-player Harriette Mackenzie scored a game-high 19 points. Five days after that match, the Transatleet placed an Instagram video in which it was claimed that Claggett was cornered one of our athletic staff and went on a tirade about how I am not allowed to play. “

It was also claimed that Mackenzie was deliberately polluted on the floor by a CBC player. In response, Claggett posted her own statement on Instagram and claimed that the Mackenzie statements were inaccurate.

“My intention has nothing to do with a specific athlete, but instead the safety of female athletes in their sport,” Claggett wrote.

VIU then submitted a formal complaint to the Pacwest, which encouraged an investigation. When the two teams would play again on 10 and 11 January, VIU refused.

“Intimidation, intimidation and discrimination have no place in athletics,” VIU said in a statement to Fox News Digital in January about the decision not to play. “VIU is in full support of our student athletes and confirms the right of all athletes to compete in an environment that prioritizes their safety and well-being.”

VIU requested not to forfeit the two as losses on the record of the team, which was granted by the Pacwest.

CBC provided a explanation that weekend to FOX News Digital stating that “accusations that CBC, the coaches, players and fans are a safety threat, simply not true and incorrectly informed.”

Days later, CBC players condemned Mackenzie, in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

CBC players blamed Mackenzie for “personal attacks”, “defamatory comments” and even “comments that encourage violence” against their coach.

“Videos and letters posted by members of the VIU basketball team of the ladies in the past three months have directly violated several rules that are stated in Article 17.2 of the manual. Various messages have ‘personal attacks’, ‘defamatory comments’ ‘, stated’, the letter said the letter said.

“All allegations of VIU players with regard to our team and coach should only have been communicated to Pacwest officials, they should not have been publicly uploaded to social media.”

The Pacwest finally chose the side of VIU and Mackenzie. At the beginning of February, the Claggett and CBC lost its right to organize the Pacwest championships.

CBC succeeded in fighting back to reach the Pacwest title match, which happened to be against VIU and Mackenzie, on 1. Mackenzie scored 21 points in that match to lead VIU to a 69-59 victory and then received an MVP from the Tournament Conference in a ceremony after the match.

But the hope of the national championship of VIU was quickly interrupted, after a loss for Mohawk College in the first round on Wednesday. The Instagram account of Mackenzie, the platform that initially shared the allegations against Claggett and CBC, turned out to be removed that same day.

In the meantime, CBC has now made a run to a historical championship, despite the frequent distractions this season.
