A jury of South Carolina has awarded $ 700 million to the New York family of a 17-year-old girl who was abducted and killed for a 2009 Spread Break Trip to Myrtle Beach.
The mother of Brittanee Drexel, Dawn Pleckan, brought a lawsuit in January 2023 that Raymond Moody, the man accused it her daughter killed; Bar Harbor Resort inc.; And Smith Family Partners LLC of unlawful behavior that resulted in the murder of Drexel while the teenager visited the holiday spot of South Carolina in South Carolina with her friends.
The jury concluded last month that Moody caused the emotional need of Drexel, and the price included $ 200 million in actual damage and $ 500 million in punitive damage, according to County Records and Fox 8 Greensboro.
“I am no more words,” said Moody reportedly in court, according to Fox 8. “I mean, I just regret so much. I realized that it doesn’t matter how sincere I am about how I feel about things I have done. It’s just not enough.”

Angel Cooper Vause, Moody’s 57-year-old girlfriend of Georgetown, South Carolina, was also recently sentenced to 18 years in prison for lying against federal researchers about her role in Drexel’s kidnapping and murder.
On April 25, 2009, Drexel left the beach and the Bar Harbor Hotel, where they stay, to meet a friend in nearby Blue Water Resort. It was the last time that someone other than Moody and Vause saw the teenager. Security images showed Drexel that evening in the Myrtle Beach Resort.

At 9 p.m. Drexel only walked in Myrtle Beach when Moody approached her while driving in a Ford Explorer and The teenage kidnappedtransported her to a remote campsite near his house in Georgetown, raped and killed her.
Moody threw the phone from Drexel away in the River Noord -Santee and buried her body in an ‘shallow grave’.

Vause is accused of luring Drexel to Moody’s van and promises to give her a ride back to her hotel, according to the Ministry of Justice. She kept her involvement and the details of the murder of Drexel a secret for 13 years until the authorities found the teenager’s remains in 2022.

“For more than ten years, the lovers of Brittanee were left to introduce themselves to the worst possible scenario in the disappearance of Brittanee, while Vause withheld the truth,” said the American lawyer Adair Ford Boroughs of the South Carolina district in a statement last month.
“We hope that the lovers of Brittanee can now have both the closure and a degree of justice that belongs to this sentence. May they rest in peace knowing that her mother Dawn was ruthless in her pursuit of justice.”
In October 2022, 62-year-old Moody by South Carolina advocated Kidnapping, rape and murder Drexel. He was sentenced to life in prison.
