The director of Chelsea Enzo Maresca says his side will be able to play differently and hit Arsenal on Sunday.
Maresca’s side was removed at halftime of the conference championship victory Copenhagen on Thursday nightas they failed to have a single effort in the goal despite the domination of the ball.
Some supporters were also frustrated by the Premier League approach against Leicester recently, but Maresca believes it will be able to be more dynamic than the second weapons.
“The intention will be that (for the ball control),” he said. “And whether we are in a position or not depends very much on the opponent.
“As soon as I was told that Pedro Neto (against Copenhagen) made a sprint in 90 minutes. The reason we sat back on the edge of our box.
“So if we plan the game (against Arsenal) sitting behind and wait, surely the strikers and wings will make 20 sprints for 60, 70 minutes.
“When you play most of your game on the opposite side, there is no room to make this kind of sprint.
“Our plan is to control the game, but Arsenal is a team that is going to push high and try to be aggressive and we will probably have more space to attack.”
Maresca has confirmed that Robert Sanchez is going to start the target for the rest of the Premier League season, despite the fact that Filip Jorgensen plays against Copenhagen.
“I think Robert needed a few days away or at least rest mentally,” Maresca said. “It’s back and hopefully we’re not going to change until the end (of the season).”
