With the chance of more confirmed cases, the state and local leaders began to cancel great events. South by Southwest was canceled in Austin, Texas. The Ultra Music Festival was postponed indefinitely in Miami. Trump was asked whether local leaders took the right precautions.
“I think it’s fine if they want to do it. I don’t think it’s an overreaction, but I would not generally be inclined to do it. I really wouldn’t do that,” Trump said.

The economy showed signs of weakening. President Trump warned of the effect of the shutdowns.
“We can’t be the remedy worse than the problem itself. We don’t let the remedy be worse than the problem,” Trump said.
