A federal judge appointed by President Donald Trump in 2018 announced that he had resigned from the largest association of federal judges, as a result of which the group was concluded a rare statement last week in which recent alleged threats were convicted of judges, but for years remained silent, while conservative members of the judiciary were confronted with control and record.

Judge James C. Ho, of the New Orleans -based American Court of Appeal for the fifth circuit, announced his departure from the Federal Judges Association during a striking event organized on Saturday by the conservative federalist Society at the University of Michigan Law School. In response to the 1,100-copy group that makes a statement on 5 March that partly says that “judges must be allowed their work without fear of violence or intimidation of any kind.” Trump and his allies have become increasingly critical of judges who have blocked the Ministry of Government Efficiency (Doge) and other aspects of the agenda of the administration, while Doge -leader Elon Musk Last month called for an “immediate wave of judicial accusations”.

“I was very surprised by that explanation. And the next morning I sent an e -mail to the organization and said I wanted to resign,” said Ho about the Federal Judges Association. “I investigated for myself and I also asked the association if they ever issued such statements when Justice Thomas received attacks, or justice Alito. Justice Kavanaugh treated a murder attack. We have had federal district judges in Texas and in Florida – as well as, I am sure that other states, but those who immediately come to mind – are all confronted with the kind of things that complained about that statement and more. Did we see these statements in 2024 or 2023 or 2022? From what I can tell, no. ”

“You cannot say that you are only for judicial independence when it comes to decisions that you like. That is not the protection of the judiciary, that is the politicization of the judiciary,” said Ho, claimed that such statements harm the cause they are trying to continue. “Because one of the two things turns out to be true if you are selective in this way. And one of these options, I think, is a bad thing. Option number one is that you actually lie, that you actually don’t care about this principle, because you didn’t stand up if the shoe was on the other foot, and so you don’t essentially tell the world seriously dedicated to judicial independence. “

“The alternative may be even worse, namely that you tell the truth – you do care about this, this principle, whether it is judicial independence or freedom of expression. I think this concept applies to many things,” he continued. “If you tell the truth, you really care about this principle, but there are only a few people who have views that are so anathema for you that you don’t think they are worth this principle that you explain.”

“And so you think a statement was born of justice that I think is experienced by many people as purely hypocritical,” he concluded.

Fox News Digital reached the Federal Judges Association for comment, but they did not respond immediately.

It started by saying that “recent events are a clear and urgent memory that federal judges play a crucial role in maintaining our democracy as guardians of the rule of law.”

“Specific decisions issued by judges are not formed from individual opinions, but are previously prepared against evaluation of what the ‘laws in the books’ require.”

The group praised that, including the Supreme Court of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, “who recently responded about criticism, threats and violence aimed at members of the judiciary.”

“Unjustable rhetoric dressed in disinformation undermines the trust of the public that our legal system can fulfill its constitutional duties,” said the statement. “De veiligheid van federale rechters en al diegenen die in de gerechtelijke tak van onze regering dienen, is fundamenteel voor hun vermogen om de rechtsstaat te handhaven, en om hun constitutionele plicht te vervullen zonder angst of onnodige invloed.
