Prime Minister Michel Barnier resigns after a motion of no confidence was passed by parliament


The French National Assembly passed a vote of no confidence on Wednesday, effectively bringing down the current government.

331 members voted in favor of the motion, more than the required 288 votes.

The vote means Prime Minister Michel Barnier is expected to resign within just three months of taking office.
