British band Sports Team robbed at gunpoint in California while on tour


The robbers held the British band Sports Team at gunpoint Tuesday about “10 minutes into” their U.S. tour.

The band revealed that the situation occurred at a Starbucks in Vallejo, Californiaearly in the morning.

“A guy runs in and says some guys crashed into a van,” the group said Instagram read. “I ran outside to try to stop it and found masked guys searching the van. Start shouting and they pull a gun. The police response was ‘file an online report’.

“I lost a lot of personal stuff, but they didn’t get the instruments, so we’re driving on to Sacramento to play tonight,” the band added. “They can take our Nintendo Switches, but they can never take our ability to play rock songs on highways.

Fox News Digital reached out to Vallejo police for additional information.

The band’s laptops, in-ear monitors, personal items and cameras were taken in the robbery, but no instruments “because the back of the van is reinforced,” frontman Alex Rice said. Sky News.

Three of the members’ six passports were also confiscated.

“The most immediate concern for us is passports, to be honest,” he told the newspaper. “Three of us had our passports confiscated.

“It’s kind of like ‘trying to get to the consulate and get that done before Christmas’.”

The group will continue their US tour to promote their upcoming album, “Guys these days.”

“We’re really lucky that we can do that,” Rice told Sky News. “We have a lot of friends in San Francisco. People have been incredibly supportive.

“It’s terrible what happened, but we are fortunate that our instruments were not taken away – which has happened to us in the past.”
