Arne Slot hints at the changes to Liverpool’s side for tomorrow’s game with Southampton-but insisted that they would not be made with a return game against Paris Saint-Germain in mind.
Liverpool secured a highly lucky 1-0 win over the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night thanks to a stunning performance by goalkeeper Alisson and replace Harvey Elliott’s late strike.
They know again in the second leg of the Champions League, round 16 equal to Tuesday, giving a headache as they look to maintain the 13 -point lead at the top of the Premier League and keep the players fresh.
Changes are expected for Liverpool against low saints
The likes of Elliott, Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas could come in, but the reception insists that they do not mean that they will lightly face the saints of the rocks.
“The one against Southampton is the most important”

He said: “If I make the choice to play other players that are because I think it’s the biggest opportunity to win the game tomorrow and not because I want to rest for the game against the PSG.
“If there were three, four, five days between the last game and that would probably have started the same 11 again, even if there were only two days between them for the next one.
“Since there are only two days in the meantime and we had to fight very hard and it’s not the first game after going out for three or four weeks, it’s probably the 50th game in three months – I don’t know how much – so you take this into account, but you get the quality from the team you are facing,
Everyone needs a little luck – reception
The reception admitted that the Reds led their luck to the French capital, but insisted it was impossible to play well in every game given the program, which includes the final EFL Cup of next Sunday against Newcastle.
He added: “I would say we weren’t a little lucky, we were really lucky, but as Michael Jordan once said,” you are the most difficult to work so much luck you have “and this is the biggest compliment to give the players.
“They have worked incredibly hard and I think the second half did not control the possession, not the dominant team, but we checked them better than in the first half.
“If you want to win something, if it’s the Premier League or the league championship, the Champions League or the FA Cup, you must have once in a moment, a game where you don’t play your best football and you are lucky, which may not be lucky if you work as hard as we do, to get away.
“There are no teams that play 38 games that only play good football.
“Our full focus is now on Southampton, the first of the three finals to play in next week.”
Liverpool’s boss loves Amazing Alisson
The reception also pays tribute to Brazil International Alisson, which was impressive against the PSG.
“I think I will become the best goalkeeper in the world who sometimes have to save others will not do,” he said. “I think he made one or two on Wednesday. He had two world class saves in great times for us.”
Cody Gakpo lost the PSG due to ankle problem and remains doubt about the weekend.
“He was not trained yesterday, so let’s see if he can train with us today,” Splot said. “Again, close the call. It’s not long -term injury, but still had a little bit of pain yesterday, so he wasn’t able to train.”
