A New Mexico Adult infected with measles died, said state officials on Thursday.
Death comes eight days after a non -vaccinated person Child in Texas died From the disease during a growing outbreak in the state that has infected nearly 160 people.
The adult was not vaccinated and did not seek medical help before he died, although the cause of death is still being investigated.
The victim just lived across the State Line from the West -Texas region where the outbreak is centered.

“We don’t want New Mexicans to get sick or die from measles,” said Dr. Chad Smelser, deputy state pidemiologist. “The measles-mumps-Rubella vaccine is the best protection against this serious illness.”
The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier this week that it would send a team to help respond to the outbreak in Texas.
The adult is the 10th person in Lea County, New Mexico, confirmed that he sustained measles.

The CDC recommends: “All children receive two doses of MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine”, according to the website, adding that adults who do not have “probably Proof of immunity should get at least one dose of MMR vaccine. ”
