The Denver Broncos Mays Mays with Linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite on Wednesday after the assistant arrest at an airport last month.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton made a statement about the move.

“After thorough discussions as an organization, I met Michael Wilhoite and I told him that we have decided to separate,” Payton said, Via ESPN. “We acknowledge the serious nature of the allegations against him and believe that this is currently the best way of acting. I appreciate Michael’s contributions to the Broncos and am convinced that he will go in a positive direction.”
Wilhoite was arrested on 23 February on accusation of second -degree attack on a peace officer, prison reports showed.
Wilhoite had left his car without supervision and an officer at the airport approached him and told him he couldn’t do that, KDVR TV reportedwith reference to a likely cause statement. Allegedly he explicitly told the officer to keep your mouth shut.
After being told again about the car without supervision, Wilhoite reportedly approached the officer “an aggressive way and bumped his chest into the victim, causing him to step back.”

Wilhoite was pushed away before he had hit the officer in the face. His next judicial date is March 10.
Wilhoite was a unguomed free agent from Washburn when he received his first taste of NFL action in 2012 San Francisco 49ers. He played for the 49 people until the 2016 season.
He signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 and only played for them for a year.
Wilhoite focused his sights on the NFL coaching in 2019 when he signed as a special team assistant at the New Orleans Saints of Sean Payton’s Staf. He was then on the Los Angeles Chargers’ Staff in 2021 as their Linebackers coach. He was released after the 2022 season.
In 2023 he joined Payton again but with the Broncos.
The Broncos went from a team at the bottom of the competition in points and recruited allowed in 2023 to one of the best defenses in the NFL in 2024 – arranged in third place in permitted points and seventh in permitted yards.
