Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom sat one on one with conservative Firebrand Charlie Kirk for a frank discussion about the shortcomings of his party in the 2024 presidential election.
In the first episode of his new podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom,” The governor wondered about the success of Kirk as the founder of Turning Point USA, who played a crucial role in President Donald Trump, who came into trouble with young voters.
Newsom mentioned the OP-ED written by the famous Democratic strategist James Carville, who encouraged Democrats to roll and play death “and allowing President Trump and Republicans to crumble under their own weight and let the American people miss” as part of a “strategic political retreat. “
That did not go well with the governor.
“I immediately thought, no BS, thought of you, who only floods the zone 24/7, possesses this space every day, gets a convert every day, picking up one, two, 10,000 people, continuing the momentum, coming out of this damn election,” Newsom told Kirk. “And then I am thinking about – we are going backwards and see you walking around for six months, the next two or three years, waiting for the moment to finally strike – if not necessarily the best advice. And that is not a knock on Carville, for whom I have deep respect.”

“Yes, I hope you are withdrawing. More for us!” Kirk answered cheerfully. “I mean, there is no opposition, no activist spark. You post these cringe videos on social media-“
“What are the videos? What are those who are the most urgent?” Asked newsom.
“I don’t know, this harmonious thing of, like, 22 senators all say the same thing… go ahead. Go do more of that, “Kirk joked.
“What are you doing? Seriously, Charlie Kirk, give us some advice,” said Newsom.
“Get better ideas, governor,” Kirk replied.
Newsom rejected advice from the Democratic strategist James Carville, who insisted Democrats to withdraw, so that President Trump and Republicans “crumble under their own weight and let the American people miss us.” (Aspen Institute YouTube -channel)
Kirk explained his successful strategy.
“Immediately, I would say 2021, we had a goal: could we move the youth voice 10 points in 10 years?” Said Kirk. “Because our entire hypothesis was – and we did this alongside President Trump and his big team – was that this demography is disproportionate on the democratic side. We believe that Democrats considered them naturally. We think your side had no message and an ideological monopoly. We saw some of the Breuklauklines there.”
“And to the honor of President Trump, he also harmonized with the strategy by going on podcasting and using Tiktok. But yes, I mean, we did it in four years, not 10, largely thanks to you,” Kirk added.

The 31-year-old conservative activist pointed to the “crisis” among young people who has eradicated himself in recent years, something he insisted on the fact that the NEWSOM party was “completely ignored”.
“This is the first time in America’s history that a 30-year-old will be worse for him than his parents. It is a breakdown of the social compact,” Kirk said. “They are the most alcohol-addicted, most drug addict, most suicidal, most depressive, most medicinal generation in history. And the message that was largely fed to many young people was lower your expectations. You will not have the same American dream that your parents would have. And we saw this as a chance, especially with young men.”

Kirk then started calling Trump a ‘cultural phenomenon’, and told Newsom, ‘regardless of what you threw at this guy, he stood upstairs,’ between the criminal charges and the efforts guided by the democratic to remove him from the state votes.
“And despite the fact that of course everything was shot, and that was a bit of the crescendo of everything, he became a bit of this figure of an American comeback story,” said Kirk. “So he personalized what many young people, especially young men, wanted to return to their politics, which was an Ascendant -rebellious attitude against these institutions that have failed them so miserably.”
