Kompany requires focus after the victory of the “most important game of the season”

Vincent Kompany insists that the Munich Bayern side remains focused on completing the work after comfortably exhausting 3-0 winners over their domestic opponents in the first leg of the 16 Champions League round.

Harry Kane scored twice – one from the penalty spot – on each side of a Jamal Musiala strike, as Kompany’s team took a significant step towards the last eight of Europe’s Elite Club competition.

For Leverkusen, it turned out to be an evening evening at the Allianz Arena for Xabi Alonso and a partner, combined by Nordi Mukiele’s second red card, as the German champions stayed with a mountain to climb the second leg next week.

Bayern will perhaps kick that they did not increase their advantage further, as Palichnha missed a glorious opportunity to do four deep in second half.

Another cause of concern for an otherwise enjoyable night for Kompany was the injury to goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who had to be replaced after suffering from what is believed to be a calf executive while celebrating the second goal.

“We did a lot of things right, otherwise you can’t beat such a team,” Bayern leader said after the game.

“We have to repeat what we did well today next week. It’s not the time for praise. Of course the kids can be happy, but we will change our focus on bochum and then on Tuesday.

“It’s just the first half. We remain perfectly focused on the second leg.

“It was the most important game of the season so far, but we hope we will get more important games.

“We stay calm as always and we have shown that we are always ready”

Bayern travels to Leverkusen for the second leg on Tuesday, with the winners playing either inter or Feyenoord in the quarter -finals.

The Italian side takes a 2-0 advantage on their second leg after a comfortable victory in Rotterdam.
