Doctors said the pope spent all day on Sunday without using the non -invasive mechanical ventilation mask that pumps oxygen into his lungs that he used on Friday after a breathing crisis. Francis continued to receive additional oxygen with a high current through a nose tube.

The respiratory crisis on Friday led to concern about a new lung infection since Francis inhaled what vomit. Doctors drafted and said they needed 24 to 48 hours to determine if there was a new infection.

On Sunday, the doctors said that Francis remained stable, had no fever and did not show any signs of an infection, suggesting that he had overcome the breathing crisis.

But the prognosis of the pope kept guarding, which means he was not in danger.
