Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth directed the Ministry of Defense (DOD) ‘s Civilian Workforce to meet the productivity -e -mail from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), stating five things they have achieved after they initially told that they should not answer.
On Sunday Hegseeth released a video message in which the shift was explained.
“Our civil patriots that devote themselves to defending this nation that works for the Ministry of Defense are crucial for our national security,” said Hegseeth. “While we work to restore the focus on Dod’s Corefighting Mission led by President Trump, we acknowledge that we cannot complete that mission without the strong and important contributions of our civilian workforce.”

Hegseeth signed a memorandum on Friday to all DOD -Civile employees, prior to an expected E -mail that is expected to be sent from the DOD on Monday to ask the five bullet points of performance.

Hegseeth told employees To answer the E -mail within 48 hours and to record their performance and add their supervisors as recipients.
He said in the video that the answers within the department would be collected to meet the requirement sent by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
OpM sent an e -mail last weekend, looking for the same five bullets, although the Dod’s Office or Staff and the readiness told its citizen report to ignore the request.

This week, the DOD uses a different approach to the request after working with OPM to get better guidance about what is expected.
“The Ministry of Defense initially paused this guideline … but now requires that all DOD -Civile employees submit five bullets in the performance of their last week,” said Hegseeth in his memorandum.

He said that the e -mail from employees on Monday is something that necessarily employees should respond, although answers may not contain any sensitive or classified information.
Hegseeth also said that non-compliance can lead to further revision.
