Rasmus Hojlund cut off once again a frustrated figure during Manchester United’s FA Cup clash with Fulham at Old Trafford.
The Danish striker’s matches this season were well documented, first under Erik Ten Hag and now Ruben Amorim. With just seven goals in 34 appearances, his return was sluggish -especially in the Premier League, where he manages just two goals in 22 games.
Five of his goals have come to the Europa League, offering little solace as the Red Devils continue to trample on the domestic market, only this time in the fa cup where they hit Fulham for sanctions after a 1-1 draw.
At 22, Hojlund looks short for trust and is still rough around the edges technically. He will benefit massively from playing alongside an experienced striker, but for Amorim, this kind of luxury is not on the table as he only struggles to put together a competitive initial eleven, let alone regular bites to support the bad number nine.

Manchester United have huge problems in advance as Ruben Amorim turns into youth
Hojlund issues were raised by Chido Obi-Martin against Fulham. The data drafted by Statmandave suggests that the former Arsenal youth player managed to find himself in places where they became a high chance.
This is a strong opposition to Hojlund’s spatial awareness, with Dane matching the same amount, but he did it in 22 Premier League games.
And fans on the internet believe this could be where Hojlund goes wrong at Man United-while Obi-Martin manages to find himself in good places to get the ball, Hojlund has not shown that he has the same quality.
Chido Obi had 3 high chance in 52 minutes today. For comparison, Rasmus Højlund had a 3 high chance of 22 Premier League matches this season.

Awareness and placement are so important. He constantly moves among players in the backline and finding gaps and not for the fight against hands. Maybe much better than I thought it would already be. https://t.co/kjbccuciyl

Defenders have a harder time to handle chido than Hojlund. Enough proof to suggest it now. Chido’s game is incredibly raw, a lot of work he does with him, but at least he occupies and disturbs the four.

Obviously, this depends on the one coming off the bench, but it is noteworthy how much more than a chido obi presence has been compared to Hojlund.

Chido’s participation here does not make Hojlund anymore favored

After the game, Amorim was asked by reporters if he would think of making a change in advance for Man United.
He replied: “Anything that can happen in the next games. We need to see the opposition, feel the player of course, as we play a lot of games.”
