The top of the country Weather and climate monitoring agency has become the last target of dismissed within the federal government, according to Democratic legislators who speak against the Trump government.
At least 880 employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa), the National Weather Service of the Land, were fired on Thursday, Senator Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., Said in a press release while the Trump government works to reduce and lower the federal costs.
“The shootings endanger our ability to jeopardize and respond to extreme weather conditions such as hurricanes, forest fires and floods – to endanger communities,” Cantwell added.
Senator Chris van Hollen, D-MD., In a position on X Thursday, the statement of Cantwell seconded and wrote: “Today we learned that Trump and Musk are firing hundreds of vital Noaa employees a flagrant illegal action that must be stopped.”

Another DemocratRep. Grace Meng, DN.Y., also reported “unconsciously” mass hires at the weather agency.

“Again, the reckless Trump government brings the American people enormous damage. Nowadays hundreds of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), including weather forecasters at the National Weather Service (NWS), received termination messages for no good reason,” Meng wrote in a statement.

The reported redundancies only come a few weeks after Van Hollen said that he had heard reports that the Ministry of Government Efficiencyth (Doge) of Elon Musk had focused on the weather agency at the beginning of February.
Daniel Swain, A climate scientist at UCLA wrote that the cuts were “deep alarming” and affected “meteorologists, data and computer scientists who are responsible for maintaining and upgrading weather forecasting models, and technicians responsible for maintaining the national instrumentation network.

A spokesperson for Noaa told Fox News Digital: “We do not discuss internal personnel and management matters per long-term practice,” adding the agency “remains dedicated to his mission, providing timely information, research and resources that the American public serves and ensure the environmental and economic resilience of our nation.”
