A State of Texas legislator has introduced legislation that would change the prohibition of the state in the field of sex transition or treatment for minors to also apply to adults in the Lone Star State.
HB 3399 submitted by Rep. Brent Money, a Republican, would change the language in the current law that prohibits the procedures for sex performances or treatment for children by replacing the word “child” with “person”.
The proposal for money would prohibit medical procedures “to transfer the biological sex of a person” or “confirm the perception of the person of the person of the person” if the perception is not consistent with the biological sex of the person.

Operations and puberty -blocking drugs would be prohibited for all Texans under the account, with exceptions for a doctor Prescribe puberty -blocking medicines For a child with parental permission to normalize puberty and for a person’s operation with a “verifiable genetic disorder of sexual development.”
People who have already started with puberty -blocking medicines must be weaned on a “medically suitable” way of drugs that “minimize the risk of complications”.
Texas has an estimated 93,000 transgender adults, making it the state with the except for California and Florida, according to the Williams Institute at the UCLA’s School of Law. About 30,000 Texans between the ages of 13 and 18 are transgender, making it the state with the third most, behind California and New York.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, signed a bill in 2023 that forbade treatment with sex transitions for transgender youth after the measure was approved by the state legislator.
The law was challenged in the Texas Supreme Court, with the lawsuit that tried to block the law with the argument that the prohibition has devastating consequences for transgender teenagers that are unable to obtain a treatment recommended by their doctors and parents, according to FOX 7.

But the court maintained the ban in an 8-1 decision last summer. Only one justice did not agree and said that the State Supreme Court allowed the state to “contain the fundamental parent rights.”
Texas is one of the at least 25 states with laws that limit or prohibit the treatment of sex transporters for transgender minors.
