Arsenal leader Michael Arita told his players to “accelerate” after 13 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 0-0 draw on Nottingham Forest.
Arteta said before starting that his side would admit the title “Over Dead Body”, but saw them fail to score for the second time in four days.
Gunners, playing without a recognized striker, only managed to shot on the city’s target, with Riccardo Calafiori also hitting the place in the first half.
Arteta said: “We are very frustrated not to win it. Today the standards were very different from the previous game. The energy, the willingness to happen. We have definitely tried many different ways.
“This is what we can do. It was so a week ago, two weeks ago, three months ago. It’s the same.

“This is the only thing we can control. We will have a real opportunity to do anything. Today there have been two points that are very painful again and we have to accelerate.
“We have the Champions League. We have a beautiful contest in front of us and we must be ready for Tuesday.”
Arsenal plays the PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 of the Champions League and will be again without Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz.
“We are trying to adjust the qualities they have, how we can help the team create different things, to have threats from different qualities,” Arteta said.
“It’s a lot to play and we need to find a solution to unlock it.”
Teacher Nuno Espirito Santo said the result meant that they “found again as a team”.
“The most important thing was to realize how we do things, how we play and our best. Today it was there,” he said.
“We were compact and it didn’t allow Arsenal too.
“Maybe we could find better transition points, but it’s always difficult. The positive is the clean leaf and, more than anything else, finding ourselves as a team again in the way we do things.
“In the last moments of the game, we were the team to get the pieces and the dangerous impulse. This is positive, too.”
