Jamie Carragher under fire, as the legend of tennis says he is not “well informed”

TV Pundit Jamie Carragher has come back, this time from former tennis star Boris Becker.

Becker says the former Liverpool defender “is not well informed” after disagreeing with his view in the upcoming round of the Champions League 16 between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

Sport Bild Report Carragher saying: “Bayern didn’t convince me at all. They are now playing against Leverkusen, who recently dominated Bayern in Bundesliga. It’s a 50-50 draw. In the end, I foresee Leverkusen (to move on).”

Bayern appointed Vincent Kompany as a boss at the beginning of the season, despite his relegation with Burnley last year. The Belgian impressed the Allianz Arena, leading Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga and have an eight -point lead compared to leverkusen champions.

Carragher Kompany Questions

But Carragher believes that the defeat on the Xabi Alonso side in the Champions League would lead to questions about whether he was the right man to lead the club forward.

He added: “If Kompany does not win, there will be many questions about his appointment, because the championship is expected and the Champions League is the icing on the cake of a season. They must at least reach the semifinals.”

Fan Bayern Becker, who was a former world number one after Wimbledon’s victory as a 17 -year -old, believes that Carragher’s views are wide from the signal.

Writing in X, the German said: “There was no question about Kompany’s appointment!

“In fact, FC Bayern has just said the domestic title the most important trophy this year and are happy with Vincent Kompany’s work!

“Jamie is not well informed.”

Afcon row

Carragher came under fire at the weekend to indicate that the Nations African Cup was not a big tournament when he discussed Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.

He told Sky Sports: “I think the problem is the fact that it is with Egypt and probably does not play in the big tournaments as such.”

Colleague Sky Pundit Micah Richards questioned him at the time, and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand later said that Carragher’s view was a “ignorance of the process of thinking”.

Carragher hit back, pointing Ferdinand a “clown” before trying to clarify what he meant.

He wrote on x: “The point I was trying to do yesterday was that Mo Salah is at a disadvantage playing for Egypt in terms of winning the Ballon d’Or. If Salah had an average season in LFC but won AFCON & was MVP, I don’t think it will win the Ballon d’Or.

“Because I don’t think AFCON carries the weight of other tournaments. But if Mbappe had an average season in Real Madrid, but won the World Cup/euro, it would still have a great opportunity. It’s not disrespectful if I feel that WC/Euros /Cp is better tournament is just my opinion when I watch them. “

He acknowledged that his wording could have been better, adding: “The word that was not an important competition was clumsy, but I think most people were watching could understand the point I was trying to do.”
