The Georgia State Senate approved a bill on Monday that they call ‘Doge Lite’.
Senate Bill 28, Redel Rollback Act from 2025, has the goal of reducing costs and increasing the accountability for government agencies by assessing and updating rules and regulations every four years.
During the mood, Democrats were against the measure and accused Republicans of trying to bring doge to Georgia. “Doge” refers to the Ministry of Efficiency, led by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and aimed at reducing the federal government.

“This is a power grip. Simply and simple, this is Doge that comes to Georgia,” said Sened. Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur) during the debate.

The bill is also aimed at small companies and requires that government agencies evaluate the cost -effectiveness of rules and will ask the input of the public about whether rules are justified and whether the government can further reduce those costs.

The mood was divided between party lines, but the majority was Republican.

In general, Senate Democrats believe that the bill will be effective in aggressive cost -saving, just like at the federal level.
The bill now goes to the house for consideration.
