Supreme Court pauses Trump’s efforts to dismiss the head of whistleblower protection agency

The American Supreme Court has the efforts of the Trump administration on Friday to dismiss the head of an independent agency, charged with investigating whistleblower claims, since the president wants to make the federal government again.

The decision allows Hampton DellingerA BIDEN -to remain head of the office of special counsel at least until 26 February. The Supreme Court has held that deadline in place and will not take any further action until then.

The Trump governance asked the court to cancel the temporary restoration of a lower court of Dellinger. A hearing from the court is planned to consider whether the break about the resignation of Dellinger will be extended.

Liberal judges Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson voted to refuse the administration’s request to dismiss the dismissal.

Conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch and Samuel Alito did not agree and said that the lower court switched, and they doubted whether courts have the authority to recover someone who fired the president. Although it acknowledges that some officials appointed by the President have disputed, Gorsuch wrote in his opinion that “those officials have generally searched for remedies such as Backpay, not a provisional exemption such as recovery.”

The dispute about Dellinger is the first legal challenge to reach the Supreme Court after several dismissals under the Trump government.
