The Roma secured their place in the Europa League last with a 3-2 win over Porto at Stadio Olimpico, sealing a 4-3 overall victory.
Paulo Dybala was the star of the night, noting twice to inspire his side beyond a loose Porto, who ended the game with 10 men.
The race started with both teams carefully feeling each other, but it was Porto that first hit the 27th minute.
Samu produced a moment of magic, performing an amazing over the head that went up in the top corner to give visitors the lead. However, their advantage was short -lived, as Dybala responded just eight minutes later.
Combining brilliantly with Eldor Shomurodov, Argentine applied a finish with the outside of his boot to level the score. Four minutes later, Dybala hit again, weaving defenders before Diogo Costa was launched in the nearby post to put the Roma in front of the half before the half.
Porto’s hopes for a return received a big blow in the 51st minute when Stephen Eustaquio received a straight red card for a violent boost to Leandro Paredes.
The Roma capitalized their numerical advantage, dominate the possession and creating many chances. Niccolo Pisilli sealed the victory in the 83rd minute with a complex finish. Porto grabbed a delayed consolation target, as Devyne Rensch turned the ball into his own net, but it was very little, too late.
Roma are now turning their attention to the 16th round, where a conflict against Lazio or the sports club is waiting.
