James Maddison noted his return from injury with the 13th minute opener for Tottenham against Manchester United On Sunday – and the former Red Devils captain, Gary Neville, was not impressed with the defense of visitors.
Maddison was involved when goalkeeper Andre Onana could only Parry Lucas Bergvall’s Candled Drive on his trail at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“The UNITED defense was pressed very closely,” Neville told Sky Sports. “Onana pushed it into a dangerous area. (Matthijs) de ligt, (Harry) Maguire and the rest were static.”

Tottenham vs Manchester United: Garnacho Blunders
United Forwards Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund were both rejected by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario before Maddison hit.
Garnacho continued to take a golden opportunity shortly after his fall behind, lifting a shot above the bar, after Bruno Fernandes put a pass on his feet into the box.
On-Lan Bayern Munich Forward Mathys Tel threatened a second for Spurs, drawing a storage from Onana after being by Son Heung-Min.
The winners of the game between two of the lowest sides in the competition of this season will go 12th to top flight.
United has not hit Tottenham in their last five attempts and lost 3-0 to Old Trafford at the first championship match of the season.

James Maddison Statistics
Maddison has contributed eight goals and three aids in a 16 Premier League begins this season, making the 28 -year -old’s sensitivity to be even more painful for the director Ange Postecoglou.
The former England midfielder scored and created a goal in the Tottenham 3-2 Europa League victory at the German club Hoffenheim on January 23, but then lost five games in all calves.
His united finish took Maddison in 10 goals and six assists in 32 appearances in 2024, capturing the Spurs once in the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup.
Maddison had never scored in 12 previous meetings with United in his career, though he recorded two assists against them for the former Leicester City Club.
