De La Hoya uses Duarte’s KO to criticize Keyshawn Davis’ performance

The Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya supporter took a little thin digging to Keyshawn Davis on Saturday night saying that Oscar Duarte fighter (29-2-1, 23 kos) was able to hit Miguel Madueno (31-4, 28 , 28, kos), while Keyhawn could not. It is not that the top forward rank of course could not hit Madueno.

De la Hoya didn’t come out right away and said it, but what he implies is Duarte is a better fighter than Keyshawn. He stopped saying it, but this was obviously what he meant when he noted that Duarte did better than Keyhawn. He’s right. Duarte presented much better against Maudeno than Davis.

Fear or strategy?

The power was there for this fight, but the courage was not. After getting a taste of the power of the Mexican fighter, Keyhawn seemed scared to hit. So, instead of trying for a knockout, he turned the match into a WWE match full of tactical fighting. The referee allowed Keyshawn to use the tactic without excluding him. Last Friday, Keyshawn was still using the same tactic.

Davis took the title WBO lightweight last night, hitting a Denys Berinchyk champion in four rounds at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York. Last year, on July 6, Keyshawn went to the distance of ten rounded, which of course Madueno with a unanimous decision.

Keyshawn seemed as if he were afraid to fight aggressively against Madueno, as he had done against Berinchyk because he could hit, and was hit hard in the first rounds when he ran. Davis seemed to give up the idea after the third round when he ate some big punches from Madueno.

“Keyshawn Davis was unable to hit Madueño. This tells you a lot about Oscar Duarte and Keyhawn because he just won the world title last night,” Oscar de la Hoya told Dazn after Oscar Duarte’s seventh victory at Miguel Madueno last Saturday night.
