Luke Littler was frustrated by the behavior of the crowd of Glasgow after the world exploded No. 1 Luke Humphries to win the night by the Betmgm Premier League.
The reigning world champion defeated Humphries 6-5 in Ovo Hydro, winning the last two legs to secure the night win and jump second in the season.
Littler’s success was overshadowed by the whistle of the crowd, initially aimed at Humphries, as it also influenced the Gerwynn price earlier in the evening, leading to match referee Kirk Bevins who should intervene over the microphone.
“Yes, obviously, there were some who did it (whistling) when Luke was thrown,” Littler said after his victory.
“Kirk (Bevins, referee) told them to be quiet and it became even worse, and then I lost the double and Luke breaks on 5-4.
“I’m just like,” Kirk, you’ve made it worse for me there. I’m 5-4 down. “But I broke back and kept my throw a lot again.
“If it is the same (result) as it was when Kirk said, then obviously just leave it. Obviously, they have to enter somewhere and say something. The victory.”
How ‘Nuke’ fought back to claim Glasgow to win
Littler returned from the brink of a fourth final exit to win the second night of the competition. The young man found himself 5-1 down to rob Cross before the roaring back to win 6-5 and then found a top form in the semifinals to reject Michael Van Gerwen 6-2.
In his rivalry with the Dutchman, who hit him in Belfast last week, Littler said: “It is precisely the case we both want to win.
“I think everyone knows I’m a quick starter, and this is probably the second time I have a huge lead in Michael.
“And then, apparently Michael took a few feet to the board, but I was very good for him. More points on the Board of Directors and then I defeated Luke.”
Littler took nine weeks last year to win his first night before winning the tournament completely, with the reign of the world champion happy to make his mark at the beginning of this year.
“During this I was always fourth, fifth, every week and I got the points,” Littler added for the slow start of last year. “But to get the maximum points a week second is really good.”
