Kane was thrilled for Bayern to head home by Celtic Park with narrow lead

Harry Kane was pleased with the performance of Bayern Munich as he took a 2-1 lead back to Germany.

The Bundesliga Giants come out of a harsh victory at Celtic Park, with Kane getting the final winner.

It was a nervous start for guests, as they seemed to go behind 30 seconds, but for a late offside flag that saved them.

From there, Vincent Kompany’s side took control, opening the scoring shortly before the half through Michael Olise.

Kane doubled the advantage soon after the break, hitting a sweet volleyball from a corner with his weak leg.

Celtic took a back slowly, which will put an advantage at the edge of return to Munich.

Speaking after the game, Kane said: “(Our show) was okay. Every time you win a game like this, you are always happy because it is not an easy place to come.

“There were definitely areas of the game where we could do better and we will need to improve next week, but overall we have noted the right moments.

“They put us under pressure in the end and we had to stay strong, something we did.

“We knew the atmosphere would help them at the beginning of the game and almost rated after a minute. We had to be patient, we knew we would have more than the ball. Sometimes you need a little special quality to open a game like this.”

Kompany added: “It’s a cliché to say, but it’s the first half of the game. Overall, it’s a really big result.

“Fans have not seen many losses here, especially in Europe, so we appreciate the importance of the game and victory.

“We are also quite decent at home, so we will look to play in it too. We have an important game on Saturday, so we will change our focus on it.

“I know this place, I know it sometimes surpasses the performance. We treated very well with it for long spells of the game, it didn’t let the game go crazy. In the last 10 minutes we had to defend and did it well.

“Of course, you can feel at those times. If the game comes alive is a special place.”
