Google Maps, FAA officially acknowledges wave of America after Trump statement: “Isn’t it nice?”


The name changes from the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America” started rolling in the US on Monday, only a month later President Donald Trump announced his intention to improve the name.

On Monday, the FAA sent a charts that confirmed that his systems were busy updating the name, in addition to updating the newly mentioned Mount McKinley in Alaska, previously known as Denali.

On January 7, Trump announced that the Gulf of Mexico would be given a new name and sign an executive order in which the decision was completed weeks later.

“We are going to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico in the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring. That covers a lot of territory,” Trump said Tuesday. “The wave of America. What a beautiful name. And it is appropriate.”

The decision was well received on Monday by users of social media, who started to notice Google Maps that are implementing the changes.

“I hate Google, but TBH, mine says that Gulf of America completely zoomed out,” said another. “And boy it is glorious.”

Trump flew over the water on his way to Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans when he signed the presidential order.

“Air Force One is currently in international waters, the first time in history that flies over the recently renamed wave of America,” wrote the White House in an X post.

In the proclamation, Trump wrote that he took the action “partly because, as stated in that order,” the area that is previously known as the Gulf of Mexico, has long been an integral asset for our once growing nation and an indelible part of America.

Google previously confirmed that it was planning to update the name of the Golf in accordance with the local authorities.

“We have received a few questions about naming within Google Maps,” Google said in an x ​​post. “We have a long -term practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources … Everyone in the rest of the world sees both names. That also applies here.”
