AOC roasted over Post about Colombia rates and coffee prices

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., weighed up President Donald Trump’s Current Tariefvete with Colombian President Gustavo Petro – but not every social media user bought her comments.

The spit between Trump and Petro started the Colombian leader refused to accept Two deportation flights on the weekend, so that Trump unleashes retaliation measures. Both world leaders threaten to increase the rates on imported products by 25% to 50%, and Trump ordered a travel ban and visa evocations for all Colombian government officials.

‘I just informed that Two repatriation flights From the United States, with a large number of illegal criminals, were not allowed in Colombia countries, “Trump wrote about Truth Social.” This order was given by the socialist president Gustavo Petro of Colombia, who is already very unpopular among his people. “

“Petro’s denial of these flights has jeopardized the national security and public security of the United States, so I instructed my administration to immediately take the next urgent and decisive retaliation measures.”

In an X-post on Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez insisted that American consumers are the only party who pay rates.

“To ‘punish’ Colombia, Trump is about to pay every American even more for coffee,” said New York congressman in a position. “Remember: we pay the rates, not Colombia.”

“Trump is all about making inflation worse for Americans in the working class, not better,” she added. “He holds the bags of himself and the billionaire class.”

Petro seemed to be a fan of AOC’s post and again posted it on his own X account.

Although rates have the potential to blow up prices, the importer, the company or entity that brings the goods to the US will pay the actual rate at the American customs and border protection (CBP).

But bloated prices are not guaranteed – sometimes rates can lower the world price of an object, because suppliers hurry to maintain access to the large American market. It is possible that coffee suppliers in various countries, such as Vietnam and Brazil – who produce more coffee than Colombia – would lower or maintain their prices.

The tweet from Ocasio-Cortez raised more than 47,000 likes from supporters from 8 p.m., but received contempt from Trump supporters and tariff lawyers.

“World record. 35 minutes and the tweet already outdated as Hot Milk,” wrote the social media account Catturd, referring to the immediate supply of Petro to transport Colombian migrants on his presidential plane.

“Who wants to tell her that there are other countries that export coffee, not just Columbia,” wrote California State Assembly Bill Essayli.

Conservative commentator John Cardillo repeated the sentiment of Essayli, which suggests that the South -American country would “take back their illegal alien beings.”

“Many other countries grow coffee beans,” wrote Cardillo on X. “We can buy the coffee from them.”

Activist Adam Lowisz responded to Ocasio-Cortez by insisting that the Democratic politician “does not understand how rates work.”

“Coffee from Colombia will rise in price, so we will buy coffee from suppliers in other countries that take back their illegal immigrants,” wrote the conservative X user. “Companies will hesitate to invest further in Colombia if they remain bad actors.”
