The parties therefore had to return to the court on Friday and Henyard arrived half an hour late before the hearing, WGN TV reports.

Judge Cecilia Horan van Cook County held Henyard due to indirect criminal contempt. That means that the mayor was considered “disrespectful to the authority of the court,” said Adrian Vuckovich, a lawyer of the owners of St. Patrick’s. WMAQ TV.

“To say the least it was a challenge. It shouldn’t be that difficult. This is a normal event to get drink permits,” Vuckovich told WGN individual.

“The judge asked the mayor:” Do you want to sign these permits? ” And instead of signing them or answering the judge directly, she started talking in circles and so the judge made a decision about what indirect criminal contempt is called, “said Vuckovich, and added:” It’s not something that Someone would like to happen, especially if you are an official. ”

Henyard was not taken into custody, but to be accused of contempt, she signed two of the three drink permits, which meant that St. Patrick’s could finally open for business.

“This should have been over in November,” Tiffany Kamara, one of the owners of St. Patrick’s, told Wmaq.

Vuckovich said that his client pursues the third permit, as well as additional consequences for the mayor because of the robbery. “We want her to be fined. We want them to pay the lawyer costs, and we want compensation. She hurt my client,” said the lawyer. “We waste money every day … money from the taxpayer. This is a beautiful building that people can use and not to mention the jobs.”

Henyard’s lawyer, Max Solomon, reportedly tried to justify the delay.

“It is very important that people understand that the documents signed today contain a different entity. That was the robbery,” Solomon told Wmaq. “That was the only thing.”

Fox News Digital contacted Henyard and Solomon for comments, but did not immediately hear anything back.

Meanwhile former Mayor Lori Lightfoot from Chicagowho was hired last summer to investigate Henyard, completed her investigation and is expected to announce her findings on Monday evening, Fox 32 Chicago reported.

Henyard is confronted with accusations, including that she has abused tax money, has spent too much on village credit cards and has dismissed an employee who claimed to have been sexually abused by a village manager during a business trip to Las Vegas.

The FBI is said to investigate Henyard for alleged corruption in Dolton and Thornton Township, where it currently acts as a supervisor, but lost the democratic nomination last month to hold that role.
