WASHINGTON, DC – The White House Office of Personnel Management has notified agency and department heads to take steps to ensure all Diversity, equality and inclusion offices by the end of the day Wednesday and place government employees in those offices on paid leave, Fox News Digital has learned.

Acting Director of the Office of Personnel Management Charles Ezell sent a memo to the heads and acting heads of departments and agencies on Tuesday evening, directing them no later than Wednesday, January 22 at 5 p.m. to:
- Send an agency-wide message to employees informing them of the closure and asking employees if they are aware of any attempts to disguise these programs by using coded or inaccurate language.
- Send notice to all employees of DEIA offices that they are being placed on paid administrative leave, effective immediately, as the agency takes steps to close/terminate all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs.
- Remove all external-facing media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) from DEIA offices.
- Withdraw all final or pending documents, guidance, orders, materials, and equity plans issued by the agency in response to the now rescinded Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal Workforce (June 25, 2021) .
- Cancel all DEIA-related training and terminate all DEIA-related contractors.
The memo also directed agency and department heads to share with OPM at noon Thursday:
- a complete list of DEIA offices and all employees working in those offices as of November 5, 2024.
- a complete list of all DEIA-related agency contracts as of November 5, 2024.
- each agency intends to fully comply with the above Executive Orders and this memorandum.
By Friday at 5 p.m., agency heads must submit the following to OPM:
- a written plan for implementing a reduction action against employees working in a DEIA office.
- a list of all contract descriptions or staff position descriptions that have been changed since November 5, 2024 to obscure their connection with DEIA programs.

The memo comes after President Trump signed an executive order to eliminate all DEI programs from the federal government.
The president also signed an order that makes it “the official policy of the United States government to recognize only two genders: male and female.”
