The Gunners never found much room for Tavares during his time at the Emirates Stadium, but he is starting to find his feet in Serie A and it seems there are top Italian clubs keen to sign him.

On top of that, they informed sources CaughtOffside that Tavares also has interest from Premier League clubs including Nottingham Forest and Brighton.

‘Discussions over a move are well advanced and there is confidence that a deal will be done’ – which big name is closing in on joining Arsenal?

Arsenal already have a deal for Tavares will join Lazio permanentlyand then they will get a sell-on clause from any future deals.

For now, it looks like Tavares will complete his move to Lazio in the summer before being sold again.

The transfer of Nuno Tavares is an interesting opportunity for clubs in England and Italy

Tavares has contributed eight assists from left-back this season, showing the quality Arsenal first saw when they signed him as a youngster from Benfica.

The 24-year-old can now finally develop into a more complete player who can consistently perform at the highest level, so there is certainly a place for him at some big clubs.

Arsenal fans may even wonder if they let Tavares go too soon, although it’s also fair to say they have plenty of other strong options at left-back at the moment.

Even if Tavares is much improved, it seems unlikely that the Portuguese ace will be included in Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of Ricardo Calafiori and Miles Lewis-Skelly.

Arsenal will now be hoping they can make decent money from any future sale of Tavares as there will certainly be an opportunity there should clubs show interest in him ahead of the summer transfer window.
