The former daytime talk show host announced the launch of ‘Ricki Lake & Bake’ on Monday, December 3rd, a product for which she collaborated with the California-based cannabis company Stone Road Farms.
“Obviously, I believe in this drug and the Stone Road brand and what they’ve created,” Lake, 56, said in a press release. “It’s so in tune with where I’m at in my life, and I’m so happy to be putting this out there.”
A bag of Ricki Lake & Bake contains half an ounce of Stone Road Farms’ “solvent-free cottage cheese,” which is grown on the company’s 57-acre farm in Nevada City. California, according to the release. Each pouch is sealed with a “personalized Ricky sticker, making it a collector’s item.”
Lex Corwinfounder and CEO of Stone Road Farms, also called it “a tribute to her iconic career and longstanding advocacy of cannabis.” He was inspired to collaborate with Lake after visiting her home in Malibu and learning that she not only consumes cannabis, but also grows it.
Lake made her big screen debut as Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 comedy Hair spray and became better known as the host of her eponymous talk show from 1993 to 2004. After Lake Rickey finished, she released a documentary, The business of being bornfor the home birth, and competed on Dancing with the stars. In 2018 she presented another documentary, Weed peoplewho is researching cannabis as a treatment for childhood cancer. She has since started a wellness podcast, “The Good Life with Ricky Lake.”
In October the lake went to Instagram to post a funny clip of herself struggling to film something after her ‘funny gum’ started and on a more serious note revealed her involvement in the upcoming production The Monologues of the Middle Agesscheduled to hit the stage in New York and Los Angeles early next year.
Earlier this year, Lake showed off her 30-pound weight loss via Instagram with two pictures side by side how she wears the same skirt 13 years apart. She also publishes carousel of photos a chronicle of her journey to slimmer figurewhich began in October 2023, writing: “I feel amazing. I feel strong.”
Lake’s husband, Ross Burninghamalso lost more than 30 kilos. (The couple tied the knot in January 2022, almost a year after their engagement.)
“I really want to share because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical product. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) But neither of us was pre-diabetic and we both felt like we wanted to at least try and do it ourselves,” she wrote at the time.
Lake admitted that at her age – and being “perimenopausal” – she was “a bit worried” that her body wouldn’t slim down like it used to. “I’m so proud of us,” she added.
